Meet the White Rose Dyslexia Centre team
We’re a small, dedicated team here at the White Rose Dyslexia Centre. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as helping employers and educators do the same. From carrying out assessments and diagnostic tests to helping people find the information they need to access the right support, we’re here to help. Vicky Shaw
About Vicky:
Vicky has a background in secondary, as well as post-16 education, then moved on to senior management roles in both the public and private sector. During the last 23 years her focus has been on working with children and adults with specific learning difficulties, in both education and the workplace. Vicky conducts dyslexia screening tests, specialist workplace needs assessments, as well as exam access arrangements testing on behalf of the Centre.

Jess Simmonite
About Jess:
Originally qualifying and working as a primary school teacher in 2007, Jess went on to specialise in teaching and assessing individuals with specific learning difficulties, as well as having an additional specialism in dyscalculia. Jess holds the required qualifications and practising certificates to enable her to conduct diagnostic assessments on behalf of the Centre, which are approved for DSA purposes, in addition to carrying out exam access arrangements testing.

Vanessa Tankard
About Vanessa:
Vanessa has joined our team more recently having more than 20 years experience of teaching in the further education (post 16) sector, as well as qualifying as a Mentor, Assessor, Internal Verifier, SENDCO, SpLD. Vanessa conducts diagnostic assessments for post-16 learners in FE/HE on our behalf (which are accepted for DSA purposes), she is also able to support us in exam access arrangements testing and workplace needs assessments.
