Pupil lands an Award from the Irlen Institute in California

White Rose Dyslexia Centre are very pleased to announce that a pupil of ours has been awarded for his hard work and commitment by the Irlen Institute in California, USA!

The Irlen Institute “Yes I Can!” Award Program recognizes outstanding individuals with Irlen Syndrome who have managed to succeed in spite of great adversities.  Each year the Irlen Institute identifies individuals who they believe have achieved exceptional success in their lives, careers, or educational achievement.

This year Daniel Marples, from White Rose Dyslexia Centre, has been selected for Honorable Mention for the 2010 “Yes I Can!” Award which is given to an individual with Irlen Syndrome who has managed to excel.  Daniels outstanding achievement in the face of hardship is being recognized and rewarded.

Daniel Marples of Sheffield, UK, is 15 years of age but having Irlen has never held Daniel back.  He is an accomplished swimmer and is training to swim in the London 2012 Olympics.  For a number of years, he has attended White Rose Dyslexia Centre for specific literacy support for dyslexia.  He completes many activities in school and inspires other children to wear their Irlen Filters.

Daniels achievements and goals in life show that dyslexia doesn’t have to hold you back. Well done Daniel and congratulation from all at  White Rose!
